Does that happen to you too? The first week of
No, this has nothing to do with age, alcohol or too much excellent food over the holidays. Or maybe it does.
In any case, 2012 has been a wonderful year and I like to thank you for the fun and excitement.
Thanks!
How did 2012 end for diablog?
We had yet another record month in visitors and page views. Thank you!
During the last bored meeting Pete resigned every five to ten minutes and promptly got re-elected every time. To our disappointment, Glynsky did not resign.
That might have been due to him being mentally absent during 99.99% of the meeting.
The bigger disappointment was the physical absence of the ladies and girls at Glynsky Towers. No Christina, no Philippa, much less the strippers and Go-Go girls promised by Glynsky. In his mentally removed state Glynsky offered to do a striptease instead, we all declined. The horrifying picture in our minds was bad enough.
So, what can you expect from Glynsky and Pete in 2013?
In short: nothing.
This is in accordance with Glynsky's career motto:
"Keep expectations at and set goals to zero,
and you won't disappoint anyone."
In line with my motto:
"If it ain't broke, break it."
sometime in 2013 diablog will undergo some technical changes.
We intend to move our stuff away from Google to a dedicated server.
Along we will drop using Blogger and switch to WordPress as content management system.
The transition will happen later in the year over a weekend. I expect to screw up big time and hope for my helpers to cover my ass then. If all goes well - what are the odds? - you will hardly notice anything.
Since nobody came up with better - or rather any - ideas for our "look and feel", the layout and everything else will pretty much stay as it is. Sorry for that.
Sidenote:
When one of the models from our great header photo (all credit to Pete) asked for royalties, Glynsky laughed and then threatened to send over the cousins from Italy. That settled that.
Otherwise, Glynsky will probably continue to bore us all most of the time.
Pete is expected to continue writing the best and most-read posts, hopefully more than in the past year.
And I will try to stay out of the way as much as possible.
My current spirit is expressed pretty well by the Beach Boys:
Looking forward to an even better 2013 and wishing you all the very best,
Engine Room

Happy New Year ER and thanks for keeping the diablog up and running. I am sure that all of the planned changes with your technical expertise will go without any problems.
I am only worried that your last 2 posts generated 0 comments apart from this one.
Happy New Year!!!
Stop scaring me...!
No Pete on this blog would be very dissapointing as I love his posts the most (sorry guys).
Hope you dont fuck up the blog as I am addicted to reading it, but I will be a good girl and wait for it while you make your changes.
Oh yes.... And finally some great music here, thank you for that!
Iren
Dear Iren
Godtt Nytt Ar !!!!!!!
It would seem that my fellow Brits and ER are still sleeping after the New Year.
We all love Pete. You should meet him in real life. He is even better.
Godt Nytt År, Smiles :)
I learned as a nurse that people need less sleep as they get older, maybe it is the opposite with Brits?
So Pete is a nice and loveable guy in real life? Who could imagine....?
If you ever arrange to meet Pete in real life, please do not wear your nurse uniform. You have been warned !!!!
I am sitting in office, doing my favourite work. Planning trips and it includes midsummer weekend in Bergen.
I am VERY hurt.
What happened that you hurt yourself? Arsenal are playing later or did you fall over Mme Glynskettes's outstretched leg.
Stop dreaming of Norwegian women in nurse's uniform. You smutty man !!!
Good vibrations to everyone!
I wanna return the thanks to you for making this a very entertaining blog. Keep up the good work (or leisure activity).
"We intend to move our stuff away from Google to a dedicated server."
ER, that is a pleasant New Year's resolution and very good news.
Looking forward to a joyous 2013.
Your faithful reader
Elsbeth
Dear Iren,
Who is scaring you? Smiles will stop him/her from doing so.
Pete is everyone's favorite, welcome to the club.
When did you become "a good girl"? And, more importantly, why?
Thanks for the compliment, there is more Ekseption on diablog already and more to come.
ER
Dear Elsbeth and Smiles,
Did you meet for beer(s) together? If not, will you do so in 2013?
Ready for a Blood Mary,
ER
Dear ER
Thanks for reminding me, not that I need reminding when it concerns Elsbeth. Unfortunately, I have not been in Cologne recently.
To answer 2nd part of question. I will invite Elsbeth for a few Kölsch in 2013 and that is a promise.
Dear Smiles,
You haven't "been in Cologne lately"? Please check with your Blond, whether you are contaminating the air around you.
The reminder came, since you claimed to be "planning trips". That's how nice diablog can be.
Taking care since 2010,
ER
Dear Ever Caring ER. She is in Lithuania and I am in cold rainy Vienna. As she goes skiing for a week, I will go to even colder Moscow and on to Tashkent. Then following the visit of Glynsky, I will go to Bologna, Vilnius and Tbilsi. That takes care of January.
How was the Bloody Mary ?
ER: You scared me!!!....Wrote that Pete was resigning, thank God it was`nt really true... This blog really wouldnt be the same without him and I hope he will write a lot in 2013...
BTW- HATE those damn pictures with the letters and numbers you have to write. Impossible ti understand before a bottle of something strong. If I need to sign in to AA I will blame you guys.
You are warned!
BTW I hate them too !!! It normally takes me 3 attempts to send my comments.
Dear Iren,
What is wrong with signing up for Automobile Assistance from the Automobile Association?
The "letters and numbers", aka word verification or captcha, protects against SPAM. Sorry, without it we drown in SPAM comments from robots.
ER
Well done Er for writing an excellent funny post and now I know what the hell we are all supposed to be doing Diablog wise in 2013.
I also want to thank Smiles for his lovely comment.
It is only a pity he doesn't write for us as he is a man of many parts, and could at least become our full time travel correspondent.
Comments from robots could be more interesting than some of those we are now receiving. Mine excluded of course.
When I meet Glynsky in Vienna, I will ask him about writing posts and joining this esteeemed diablog as Travel Correspondent.
Dear Mr. Globetrotter Smiles,
I'm very much looking forward to our little Kölsch date! Let me know via elsbeth at pidder dot com when you're in the neighbourhood...
Until then: bon voyages!
Elsbeth
