I mentioned in an earlier comment to Pete's reference to Long John Baldry that I knew him years ago and promised to reveal all.
Therefore this post in the Real Deal series (and some following) concentrates on the line up of a tour that was arranged by Mme. Glynskette in an earlier life which opened at the Royal Albert Hall in 1969 and toured the UK.
The event aroused huge interest in the UK as it was the first ever visit by BB King and there are a host of stories associated with it as, apart from my day job in London, I was dragooned by my love into 'helping' at all the venues across the country! Many of the stories I could recount defy description and maybe, some time, I will let you share the bonkers time we had.
Anyway, as the 'blues' segments of the Real Deal seem so popular it seems like a good idea to feature each of the acts as a post in their own right - so, welcome to Part 1 of the Mme Glynskette Blues Fest.
The show was hosted by Long John Baldry (the reason I got to know him) with acts which included: BB King, Fleetwood Mac, Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee and Duster Bennet - and in Part 1 here, for the uninitiated, is stuff on Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee starting with a classic instrumental (and a rare view of Sonny standing):
Hootin' the Blues
It is at this point that I mention that Engine Room gets all prim with me for including too many vids as he claims that many of you don't have the 'power' available to open a whole bunch - therefore warning, three more vids follow though that is nowhere near enough to do...
...justice to such accomplished musicians. There is, thank heavens, loads on Youtube!
Quickly on to the next which is the beautifully melodic:
Born and Livin' (with the legendary Willie Dixon on base)
and from a BBC 4 programme on '60's and '70's blues, Sun's Gonna Shine
And, to finish, two more as one in the 'melding' of Red River Blues and Crow Jane.
Now that, diablog, is what I call music. These two epitomise their era and nothing I can add would do them justice. Follow the link in the small credit below if you fancy more - there will be from me on the other acts in Mme. Glynskettes Blues Fest.
Yours, diablog, gettin' on down
Glynsky

Great stuff Glynsky.
loved the music
Glad you liked it Pedro.
As usual the boss gets petulant.
I will stop pestering you, Glynsky, once there is a learning curve. Hope dies last.
And yes, the songs are lovely,
certainly worth two posts or more.
