I had intended, as I started to do the next Real Deal post, to be somewhat more introverted - but today has been a good one so lets keep happy for the moment and stick with the '80's!
As you are aware one of my best friends was Freddy (to whom in part diablog is dedicated) and he and I used to tour car race meetings all over Europe to the strains of Kid Creole and the Coconuts of whose this was his absolute and all time favourite (was it the middle Coconut Kid was married to?)....
... from the soundtrack of the movie 'Against All Odds'. Astonishingly, as you have found with the link above, they are still around. I haven't heard of them for years, but lets hope I can catch up sometime.
However, this was not one of their biggest hits which include ...
... Annie, I'm Not Your Daddy
and the monster hit which without fail still gets parties going if all else fails - even Engine Room has been known to crack a smile if he hears it - Stool Pigeon. And well he might as the lyrics refer to him - 'he's an old ex con whose been away....'!
Oh the bling and glitz - bring it back, love it! Really great stuff with always at least one on the Glynsky juke. Well worth remembering.
Yours, diablog, boppin' around

Yesssssssss,
Kid Creole is absolutely great. What an entertainer.
What eclectic music.
Mixing Jazz, Big Band, Disco, Salsa. If that doesn't get people off the sofa and onto the dance floor, what else?
And his stage shows were stunning. He inspired a dinner show in Soho, NY, in the early 90s called 'Captain Banana' long before Pomp Duck & Circumstance and others.
Kid grew up in the Bronx btw, and NY loved him.

So you kinda liked it - good. See, we can agree from time to time!
Even a broken clock is right twice a day.

Oh dear ER, wrong again! Mine is digital, so only once a day. You may remember that you broke it at 5.05 and it now just says SOS.
That's not specific to the watch. Everything and everyone getting this close to you sends the same signal.
ER
it is not so important, to which Coconut Kid Creole was married but he had a luverly bunch of coconuts !!
PS. Great music. I almost got up and danced.
