Dear Reader,
If you are still following mainstream media, you've read, heard or saw plenty of criticism of WikiLeaks lately. Most journalists are condemning WikiLeaks, because it lost control over the un-redacted cables and then decided to release them all for all people to read.
The accusation is: WikiLeaks endangers the "sources".
Well, we heard that before from politicians and it was as stupid then as it is stupid now. But let's correct the accusation.
First, WikiLeaks does not have to protect those, who were informing the USA. It only has to protect its own source.
If someone failed protecting its sources, it was the US government.
Second, not all of those informants are "good guys".
That judgment depends heavily on your perspective and on the intention of the person giving information to the US.
Only a bigot can call for punishment of the leaker to WikiLeaks - supposedly Bradley Manning - and then call for protection of informants to the US government. You got to be schizophrenic for that.
And if your politicians sold out to the US - like many did on copyright laws -, you surely would want to know names, don't you? Or, if the US government supports Monsanto in pushing genetically modified food down your throat, you have a right to know, who's a poodle of the US.
Besides, I don't recall any media paying attention to that German politician, who got fired for informing the US embassy about cabinet discussions.
With the release of un-edited cables WikiLeaks gave the information were it belongs, in the hand of the people, as I had hoped they'd do a while ago.
Extra benefit, we will now learn, what the media were trying to hide, what they edited. I hope for some eye-opening news ahead.
The media are trying only to cover up their own short-comings, the Guardian first and foremost. And they are fighting for their status and power and importance and money.
So, please, cut the crap, mainstream journalists.
And you, dear reader, please remain interested in facts. Like this one:
The many enemies of the WikiLeaks have yet to produce evidence, that a single person got hurt because of the many releases of WikiLeaks. Rest assured, many people are searching for a smoking gun.
